Message from the Netherlands Ambassador to Turkey, H.E. Marcel Kurpershoek

       I am very pleased that a group of Turkish alumni has decided to set up the The Netherlands Alumni Assocation in Turkey. On 7 December 2007 I had the pleasure to host the official kick off event of the The Netherlands Alumni Association in Turkey. On that occasion I met many enthusiastic alumni who are still actively engaged in activities with the Netherlands. I learned many new things about relations between Turkey and the Netherlands, like a PhD dissertation on a predecessor of mine, Cornelis Haga, the first Dutch ambassador in 1612, and the fact that quite a number of modern Turkish composers of music have studied in the Netherlands with Dutch composers, and many other interesting facts. In my view NAATR offers alumni an excellent platform for a continued relationship with the Netherlands, network opportunities and of course time to talk about the good old days in The Netherlands.
